About the charity
North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team deliver essential search and rescue cover for the whole of the Northumbria Police area. The team covers both urban and remote environments, operating in a vast area encompassing all of Northumberland and Tyne and Wear.
The team is made up entirely of professional and skilled volunteers, supporting both the Police and Ambulance Emergency Services. The service is a charity which receives no funding, relying upon kind donations to keep the team operational.
From searches to rescues, covering both urban and remote environments, callouts may involve searching for a missing or vulnerable person, to rescuing walkers, fell runners, climbers etc who are injured or lost. The team responds to callouts 24/7, 365 days a year.
